Did you miss the fun times of the iPhone 5C? Apple decided to recall the past and introduced a budget iPhone XR with a 6.1-inch screen, where the bodies were painted in very bright and steep colours.
Since this is a budget model according to Apple standards, the materials and technologies have been sacrificed upon. Instead of aluminium, the case is made of stainless steel. There is only one camera left - for 12 megapixels, but this does not prevent it from being very cool.
Apple has heavily improved the software side of things when it comes to the camera. Now the iPhone XR camera works just like on the iPhone 8 Plus. Yes, one camera now works like two in the past, and practically works just as well. Active portrait mode? Easy. Record slo-video in 4K? Even easier.
The rest is the same as in iPhone XS: A12 processor, IP67 protection and that's it. The screen, as expected, LCD. On stage, Apple even boasted that the new iPhone has "the best LCD-screen on the market."
As for the colours, there are now six for the new iPhones XR: coral (pink), yellow, blue, black, (PRODUCT) RED and white.
The battery wasn't much talked about, same as for iPhone XS & XS Max, but it works an hour and a half longer than iPhone 8 Plus currently does.
The pre-orders of the iPhone XR in New Zealand will start on October the 19th and will be available to purchase at the end of the month. Such a delay is expected, but luckily, the release date isn't the end of November. The price of a smartphone is more democratic than XS: the initial configuration of 64 GB starting from $1399 NZD.
