In sunny San Francisco, Samsung showed the anniversary flagship lineup of the Galaxy S10. Externally, smartphones have changed very little, but still, you can immediately tell S9 and S10 apart.
This year, Samsung introduced three models at once: the S10, S10 + and the “light” version of these smartphones called the S10e.
Galaxy S10 Smartphones have got closer to Note series design: the corners are now not as rounded as the S9. And it makes the phone look smarter.
The front camera is now embedded directly into the display. And this is probably the first thing that catches the eye: the new Galaxy got the Infinity-O display, as the company calls them. S10 and S10e have one front camera, and S10+ has two, which is one of the main differences. And it all makes it look awesome.
But the most noticeable change can be seen at the back: the fingerprint scanner's gone. In older models, it was built right into the display, but on the S10e it is on the right side.
Additionally, S10 and S10 + now have three rear cameras! Photos promise to be spectacular.
The most expensive version will get a black and white ceramic case. But the classic for the Galaxy series pearl colour will be on all models. But S10e turned out the most cheerful with “aquamarine”, “onyx” and “citrus” colours.
Display in S10 series deserves a separate category. The fact is that Samsung has a Samsung Display division. It delivers screens to Apple, Xiaomi and other companies. But Samsung could not leave itself behind and put forth the best of its creations into the S10. This is a dynamic AMOLED. And it looks unrealistically juicy. The S10e display is flat, with a diagonal of 5.8 inches, and for top tier models - with curved side faces. The S10 has a diagonal of 6.1 inches, while the Plus version has 6.4 inches. The resolution is Full HD + for the S10e model and Quad HD for S10 and S10+. The aspect ratio is the same: 19:9.
These are the first displays with HDR10 + support. And the company paid a lot of attention to the colours. The colour accuracy is 0.4 JNCD - the lower the figure, the better. Maximum brightness - 800 nits.
The “heart” of the S10 is the branded Samsung Exynos 9820 processor. Since this is exclusive for the Galaxy series, it's worth telling a little bit about it. 9820 model performed on the 8-nm process technology. It has a neural coprocessor responsible for the operation of artificial intelligence. Performance, compared with the previous generation, increased by 15% in multi-core mode. At the same time, power consumption decreased by 40%. Excellent results. In general, you can play games and do pretty much everything without any glitches.
S10e and S10 will come in single versions: 6GB RAM & 128GB memory and 8GB RAM & 128GB memory respectively. Oddly enough, considering that competitors have many options for internal storage or RAM. But the S10+ has two versions: 8/128 GB and the most advanced with 12 GB of RAM and 1 TB internal memory. All three versions support microSD cards up to 512 GB.
It seems like S10+ "borrowed" the battery from Note 9. Its relative capacity is 4100 mAh. For other models, this figure is more modest: 3100 mAh for S10e and 3400 mAh for S10. There is support for 12-watt wireless charging. Also, smartphones can charge other devices that support Qi WPC format.
And, what's important, all versions of the Samsung Galaxy S10 have a 3.5mm headphone jack! This decision will make music fans rejoice. And Tim Cook would like to remind you that somehow Samsung managed to keep dust and moisture protection at the level of IP68. So if you want, you get.
The main feature of the S10 and S10+ is a triple main camera. The main module takes pictures with a resolution of 12 megapixels. There are optical stabilization and a variable aperture that switches between f/1.5 and f/2.4. The second camera is ultra wide. 16-megapixel resolution with aperture f/2.2. And most importantly: the same cameras will be in the S10e! It looks particularly impressive and unusual in the viewfinder mode: the screen shows what is usually hidden outside the frame, and any camera movement looks like a rich action-scene.
But the exclusive S10 and S10+ will be a telephoto lens. A camera takes pictures with a resolution of 12 megapixels. Aperture - f/2.4.
Each of the three smartphones will receive a 10-megapixel front camera with a lens aperture fixed at f/1.9. But the S10+ will have a double 8-megapixel selfie camera. With its help, you can adjust the effect of depth of field, that is, change the degree of background blur.
And additionally, the front cameras have a fancy animation around it when the camera loads.
The prices are as follows in New Zealand. S10e costs 1299 NZD. S10 is 1499 NZD, and the top version S10+ retails for 1699 NZD. The S10+ version with a terabyte of internal memory and a ceramic case will cost a whopping 2599 NZD if you want the latest and greatest.
