Vodafone has a long history of providing Kiwis with outstanding coverage, wherever they live.

In 1998, Vodafone Group Plc (British multinational telecommunications company) acquired the New Zealand operations of Bellsouth (American telecommunications company). Thus, Vodafone NZ was born and continued to operate as part of Vodafone Group until 2019 when it was bought by Infratil Limited and Brookfield Asset Management Inc.

Vodafone’s mobile network comprises of 1,560 cell sites that reach more than 98% of Kiwis, with 4G coverage available to 96% of Kiwis. They provide mobile and broadband services to consumer and business customers. They also have large rural coverage (295,000 homes), HD Calling, and 4G roaming to over 130 international regions. Currently, they have the largest 5G coverage out of all the network providers.

Their team of more than 3000 staff is spread across the country, with main offices in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

Vodafone recently announced they will be rebranding to One New Zealand in early 2023.

Vodafone’s extensive network is used by Vodafone and multiple MVNOs.

Mobile Phone Operators on the Vodafone network include:

  • Vodafone
  • Kogan Mobile (MVNO)
  • MyRepublic (MVNO)
