These guys are the cheapest around. But they do offer deals as well on occasion. You will need to have an unlocked phone that works on One NZ and if you are porting your phone number across, this can take a couple of days to complete. So you may want to be prepared for that. But once it’s all set up and working, it worked well for me. If you go on holiday overseas to Australia, be aware you will have to buy a roaming add on that is a bit tricky to setup prior to leaving. Your phone won’t work overseas without setting up the roaming prior to departure. I would suggest that you even get a prepaid sim card for making calls in the country you are in. They are supposedly bringing in ESIMs, but at this time they don’t offer them. ...read more

Pros
Cheap prices, works on 1 nz, good deals on occasion.
Cons
Not easy to set up overseas roaming. Customer support is basic, so be aware.

Best value in NZ. Even better if you buy a 365 day plan. Even better deals around Black Friday.
No texts to special 3 and 4 figure numbers. No rollover data. Nobody and nowhere in NZ for help. Help based in Pune, India. Help only by online chat or email. Recommend email rather than chat so you have a record of what help is promised if it's not delivered.

Pros
Cheap. Cheapest.
Cons
No NZ support.

Have been with One since the 90s. Now on a plan which includes two broadband accounts and four mobile monthly accounts. Loyalty used to be recognised, with price bundling, but not any more. Getting charged the same as someone who has just joined, plus crazy out-of-the-blue price hikes. Online customer service is DIRE. If you are near a shop it's best to go in. The AI chat will have you begging for an asylum. Who has all day to go round and round in circles with an AI assistant or if you're lucky someone in the Phillipines? ...read more

Pros
Pretty reliable connectivity

The worst customer service Ive ever encountered. Ive been with Vodadone since I was 21 Im now 52 and leaving. I've been chasing an outage in my area for 5 days and now their stupid Bot has asked me the questions all over again only to pass it onto some other person in Asia I have to explain everything again to 5 days and getting no where! Do not use OneNZ

Pros

Support does not want you talking to a person, even after 9am on a weekday, I get "you have reached us outside of office hours." I'm on a prepay account, and I'm about as light of a user as possible. 15 minutes incoming / outgoing phone calls. 20 text messages, and 32 MB of data. Nothing. But while people can leave me voicemail, I can't pick up. I'm set up for monthly credit card renewal. This is the second time this has happened, and I had to reach Skinny, which is almost impossible.

Pros
Second cheapest
Cons
No humans work here

Difficult to deal with, unrealistic and irrational price increases and total lack of consideration for loyalty.

Pros
None that I can think of.
Cons
Unrealistic prices and terrible customer service

Very unreliable, customer service is very slow, waiting for hours to talk. Problem unresolved and customer service said turn phone off and on. After waiting 3hrs to talk with someone and have such poor service I have changed to a different supplier. My advice, don't even join skinny. Only ends in stress. No Data even if you have unlimited.

Pros
None
Cons
Slower than dial-up.

Just unbeatable value prepay. They regularly run discount deals that make them even better value. They use the One network. Prepay by buying a voucher with a credit/debit card. I’ve been using them for years with no problems.

Pros
Excellent value
Cons
No shop to go into if you need help with your phone.
